“ A few days later, when JESUS again Entered Capernaum, the people heard that HE had Come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and HE Preached The Word to them.” Mark 2:1-2
In Mark 2, many people went to The LORD JESUS to listen to His Word. They were thirsty to hear what The LORD Had to Say and He Quenched their thirst with His Word.
Today, in our Bibles, we have The Word Of CHRIST within reach. We do not need to move; we just need to open our Bibles and quench our thirst with His Word.
However, our Bibles often remain on our bedside and are filled with dust because they are not used. We do not always realize The Grace we have by having The Word Of GOD So Close To Us, whereas years ago, others were traveling miles just to hear The LORD JESUS.
Let us not neglect our Bibles, let us open them and read them! For in our Bibles, there is a Treasure!
“Then GOD Remembered Rachel; HE Listened to her and Enabled her to conceive. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son and said, “GOD has Taken away my disgrace.” Genesis 30: 22-23
In Genesis 30, The LORD Remembered Rachel after a long period of infertility and finally gave birth. It reminds me of fulfilment of prayers. Sometimes we pray and when we do not receive an answer after a while, we are overcome by doubt, discouragement. This Passage shows us that GOD does not Forget His children. So when our prayers are in conformity with His Will, we can have the assurance that HE will Fulfill them sooner or later.
“The Voice Of The LORD Is Powerful; The Voice Of The LORD Is Majestic. The Voice Of The LORD Breaks the cedars; The LORD Breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. HE Makes Lebanon leap like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. The Voice Of The LORD Strikes with flashes of lightning. The Voice Of The LORD Shakes the desert; The LORD Shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The Voice Of The LORD Twists the oaks and Strips the forests bare. And in His Temple all cry, “GLORY!” Psalm 29:4-9
Psalm 29 describes The Power Of The LORD. Just by His Voice, He Breaks the cedars, Strikes with flashes of lightning, Shakes the desert, Twists the oaks, Strips the forests bare.
Such a Power is not comparable to any other of what we see on earth. King David said: All in His Temple cry: GLORY.
We too must give The Glory and Honor due to The LORD because HE Is Much More Powerful than any man on earth. If we give honor to our heads of state, our government members, our business leaders, our superiors, we should know that The LORD Deserves an Infinitely Superior Honor.
In Mark 1, The LORD JESUS Received The Anointing of The HOLY SPIRIT after His Baptism. Because of this, His Authority as The SON Of GOD is recognized by all. He Speaks and what HE Says is fulfilled. HE Calls the disciples, and without hesitation or asking questions, the latter leave for some their nets for others their father and follow The LORD.
““Come, follow ME,” JESUS Said, “and I will Send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed HIM.” Mark 1:17-18
HE Teaches with authority and people are struck by His Teaching.
“The people were amazed at His Teaching, because HE Taught them as ONE WHO Had Authority, not as the teachers of The Law.” Marc 1:22
HE Speaks to an unclean spirit and the latter executes His Order; it suppresses a fever, and cures leprosy.
““Be quiet!” Said JESUS Sternly. “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.” Marc 1:25-26
With The Anointing Of The HOLY SPIRIT, all are subject to His Authority, visible and invisible world. Such is The Power Of The HOLY SPIRIT!
When The LORD JESUS Began His Ministry, HE Said:
“The time has come,” HE Said. “The Kingdom Of GOD has come Near. Repent and believe The Good News!” Mark 1:15
Prophets announced The Coming of The LORD JESUS and John the Baptist prepared His Way. HE Was There to accomplish The Mission for which HE had Been Sent by The FATHER. He Brought The Kingdom Of GOD to men, HE HIMSELF Being The Representative Of The Kingdom on earth. He invited men to repent and believe the Good News.
Nowadays, The Same Message remains current. The LORD JESUS has Accomplished everything on the Cross and defeated death through His Resurrection. The Kingdom of GOD is still Close to each one of us; but His New Representative on earth is The HOLY SPIRIT that The LORD JESUS Sent after His Ascension. As The LORD has Pointed out to us, we must repent and believe The Good News in order to have access to This Kingdom Of GOD, which is so Close to each one of us.
“Today, if you hear His Voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:15
” Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, “It is because The Lord has Seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now.”
She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Because The Lord Heard that I am not loved, He Gave me this one too.” So she named him Simeon.
Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.
She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “This time I will praise The Lord.” So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children.” Genesis 29,32-35
In Genesis 29, Leah, Jacob’s first wife, hoped that her husband would love her because she was giving birth. At each new birth of a child, she hoped her husband would give her more attention. But we can assume that this was not the case since at each birth she had the same hope until her fourth birth for which instead of putting her hope in her husband she decided to praise The Lord simply by calling her child Judah.
With her last child, Leah shows us the attitude we must adopt: an attitude of praise to The Lord no matter what situation we find ourselves in. If we take The Lord as our Sovereign Good, regardless of the circumstances of life, the trials we are going through, He will Be our Source of Joy and we will praise Him at all times.
“The Lord Is my Strength and my Shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He Helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him. The Lord Is The Strength of His people, A Fortress of Salvation for His Anointed One.” Psalm 28,7-8
Like king David in Psalm 28, let us put our trust in The Lord. In the Psalm, king David calls the Lord “Rock” once and another time “Fortress”. We know that a rock is solid; it is not moving. If we lean on it, we will not fall. Similarly, The Lord Is our Rock. We can lean on Him with confidence, confident that we have a Safe Shelter in Him. Indeed, God Is Faithful to those who fear Him.
