MATTHEW 21 – THE LORD JESUS, ROLE MODEL OF HUMILITY

“This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, Your King comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”” Matthew 21: 4-5

The Lord Jesus Is A Perfect Role Model of Humility. He showed us the most beautiful proof of humility, by coming into earth, leaving all His privileges and rights as God, and becoming like His creatures. During His Stay on Earth, He showed us His Humble Character several times. In Matthew 21, there is one example. The Lord Jesus was preparing to enter Jerusalem and in order to make His Entrance, He asked His disciples to go and fetch a donkey and a colt; and it was on the back of the colt that He made His Entrance, as it had been prophesied.
We see that The King of kings, The Son Of The living God, Who has Power over all things and to Whom all things belongs, has made his entrance on the foal of a donkey. He chose the simplest way to make His Entrance, but that did not stop the crowd from recognizing His Greatness.

“The crowds that went ahead of Him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to The Son of David!”
“Blessed Is He Who comes in The Name Of The Lord!”
“Hosanna in The Highest Heaven!”” Matthew 21,9

We, Christians, who follow Christ’s Steps, should take Him as An Example and cultivate humility. Regardless of our social status, our material possessions, our spiritual gifts, we should be able to humble ourselves as The Lord Jesus has shown us, for God opposes the proud, as it is written:

“For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Luke 14:11
