GENESIS 20 – YOU SHALL NOT COVET YOUR NEIGHBOR’S WIFE

“But God came to Abimelek in a dream one night and said to him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman.” Genesis 20:3

In Genesis 20, The LORD kept all Abimelech’s wives and other women in his household from conceiving because Abimelech took Sarah, Abraham’s wife. However, he did not know that Sarah was Abraham’s wife, which is the reason why The Lord granted him His Grace.
This account shows us that God condemns adultery. We must neither covet the wife or husband of our neighbor, nor be unfaithful to our spouses. Nowadays, adultery is common. But, as Christians, we must not fall into this devil’s trap. Whatever temptations we may have, let us not be seduced by covetousness and let us remain faithful to our spouses. That is what is pleasing in God’s Sight.
