“He called a little child to Him, and placed the child among them. And He said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter The Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 18:2-3
In Matthew 18, The Lord Jesus tells us that we will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven unless we become like little children.
But what is so special about little children? I focused on three main characteristics: dependency, simplicity and trust.
Dependency: Little children are dependent on their parents. They recognize their littleness and ask for their parents’ help when needed. They know that they are not self-sufficient and constantly need their parents.
Like little children, we must cultivate dependence on God. This dependence is in fact a mark of humility because we must recognize our limits and be able to stretch out the hand to The Unlimited God. Besides, humility is an important characteristic to be able to recognize oneself as a sinner and turn to God to obtain His Forgiveness.
Simplicity: Little children take what they are told with simplicity without complicated reasoning because they have not yet acquired the human knowledge that will push them to question things.
Similarly, it is important for us to receive The Word Of God with simplicity because human reasoning cannot understand God’s Wisdom. Only God reveals Himself to humans, reveals The Mysteries Hidden behind The Scriptures, but we must go towards Him with simplicity because God opposes the proud.
Trust: Little children have complete trust in their parents. Because of this, they blindly believe everything their parents tell them, without doubting, without asking questions.
In the same way, we must believe in God’s Word, receive it as it is, without doubting, without asking questions, this is also called having faith.
Let’s try to become like children in order to inherit The Kingdom of Heaven !!!
