“On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire Mercy, not sacrifice.’For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”” Matthew 9:12-13
In Matthew 9, we see the Pharisees asking why The Lord Jesus eats with tax collectors and sinners. And The Lord answered that He has not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
Due to the original sin committed by Adam, we were all born sinners, spiritually ill and therefore, we all need to be healed by acknowledging our sins before The Lord and sincerely repenting in order to obtain His Forgiveness. So the Pharisees as much as tax collectors and sinners needed to be healed by The Lord Jesus, but they considered themselves as righteous, not sinners.
However, The Lord Jesus heals only those who acknowledge their sins and come to Him with faith. Throughout the chapter 9 of Matthew, we see many sick people coming to The Lord Jesus with faith and being healed by Him.
So, let’s learn to humble ourselves before The Lord, admit our sins, repent and change our behavior in order to obain His Forgiveness. Adam’s disobedience brought death to us, but The Lord Jesus’s Obedience leads us to Eternal Life, but that Life is only for those who believe, who acknowledge their sins and truly repent.
” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering The Kingdom Of God ahead of you. For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.” Matthew 21:31-32
