“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of The One Who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
In Matthew 10, Jesus tells us not to be afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul, but rather to be afraid of The One Who can destroy both soul and body. In the Old Testament, we have several examples of people who chose to sacrifice their lives rather than do something contrary to God’s Commandments. In those cases, those who killed them were just killing their body, but they remained faithful to Him Who had the power to destroy their souls and bodies.
Today, we as Christians, are we ready to refuse to do something that men ask us to do but that goes against God’s Commandments? We should not forget that it is God Who has the power to destroy our bodies and souls into hell. Thus, let’s try to please Him rather than please men and be unfaithful to Him.
