Genesis 11 explains the origin of language differences and how men were scattered across the face of the earth. In the beginning, men had the same language, but they decided to use this advantage for their own glory and not for That Of God.
“Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to The Heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”” Genesis 11:4
Therefore, God decided to scatter them and confuse their language.
“Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
So The Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.” Genesis 11:7-8
In the light of this text, we can meditate on the following questions and ask ourselves how we can unite for The Glory Of God rather than for our own glory: When we gather with other men, is it for God’s Glory? In our various endeavors, do we seek God’s Glory or our own glory?
