Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.” Matthew 8:26
“He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.” Matthew 8:32
In Matthew 8, we can see The Omnipotence Of The Lord Jesus. He speaks to the wind and the waves and they obey Him. Still through His powerful Word, He drove demons out and they recognize His authority as The Son Of God.
“What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” Matthew 8:29
Also, in our daily lives, we must recognize The Omnipotence Of The Lord Jesus and keep faith no matter our trials. In Matthew 8, a great storm came up on the sea, but The Lord Jesus was asleep; So the disciples began to panic.
“Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?”” Matthew 8:24-26
In this passage, we see two attitudes: The one Of Christ and that of His followers. The storm came up but The Lord Jesus was sleeping: He was in an attitude of Peace. While His disciples woke Him up, told Him to save them because they were going to drown : they were in a attitude of trouble. Similarly, when we face trials, we can either trust in The Almighty Lord Jesus and adopt an attitude of peace or doubt, which is a sign of lack of faith, and thereby be troubled. It is up to us to choose to trust in The Lord. Did He not He say :
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
