“When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to Him, and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”” Matthew 8:16-17
In Matthew 8, we see The Lord Jesus healing all kinds of physical and spiritual diseases. The man with leprosy was made clean; the servant of the centurion was cured of his paralysis; the fever of Peter’s mother in law left her and several other demon-possessed and sick people were healed by the Word or The Touch Of The Lord. Today, The Lord Jesus still wants to heal us, heal our souls and heal us from all that defiles us but for that, we must go to Him. The man with leprosy and the centurion in Matthew 8 show us what to do when we want to be healed by The Lord Jesus.
First, we must go to Him and expose our suffering.
” When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”” Matthew 8:5-6
Second, we must go to The Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of humility, recognizing His Greatness and our smallness.
“A man with leprosy came and knelt before Him …” Matthew 8:2
“The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have You come under my roof…” Matthew 8:8
And finally we must have faith, believe that The Lord Jesus Is Able to heal us.
“Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Matthew 8:2
“… just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” Matthew 8:8
The Lord Jesus is working according to our faith. It is up to us to learn how to develop it and ask The Lord to increase our faith.
“Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.”” Matthew 8:13
