MATTHEW 7 – THE SMALL GATE, THE NARROW ROAD

Following my reading of Matthew 7, I meditated on the theme “The Small Gate, The Narrow Road.”

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

Let’s analyze what The Lord Jesus says in this passage. There are two gates, two roads: a small gate and a wide one, a narrow road and a broad one. And we see that it is easier to enter through the wide gate as it is said that many enter through it, than to enter into the small gate as it is said that only a few find it. We can distinguish here two paths: the path of the world that leads to destruction and That Of God that leads to Life. As Christians, we should not follow the way of the world, which often is the way of the majority, but we must try to always stay on The Path Of God. Through our choices, we either enter into the broad road or the narrow one. It is up to us to make good choices. But how do we make those right choices and enter through the small gate and into the narrow road? The Lord Jesus gives us the answer in Matthew 7:

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter The Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does The Will Of My Father Who Is in Heaven.” Matthew 7:21

So we must do The Will Of God in order to enter through the small gate and into the path that leads to Life. And it’s The Lord Jesus Himself Who shows us how to do The Will Of His Father. Did He not say:

“I Am The Way and The Truth and The Life. No one comes to The Father except through Me.” John 14:6

“I Am The Gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.” John 10:9
