I read Matthew 6. It is a very instructive chapter. I decided to start with the theme “Seek First His Kingdom and His Righteousness.”
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
But seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:31-33
In this passage, The Lord Jesus asks us to seek first The Kingdom and Righteousness Of God and then we’ll get the rest (food, drink, and clothing). But often, what concerns us most? What are the priorities of our lives? What are we willing to do for money, for example?
Often, we put The Kingdom and Righteousness Of God in second place or even last in our lives and prefer to worry about temporary things (food, drink, and clothing). But at what price?
When we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by the worries of life, we move away from God. If our priority is other than The Kingdom and Righteousness Of God, this priority will take over.
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24
It’s up to us to choose which master we want to serve, God or money! Because it is impossible for us to faithfully serve both.
